But if I delete it in the ‘My Drive’ tab - it’s gone on your computer, ignoring what you’ve set. They are now existing in two locations at the same time! Now, if I delete this folder/file in the ‘Computers’ tab, the ‘Backup and Sync’ app will behave as your preference sets: straightly delete it on your computer, ask your choice, or just keep it on your computer. The actual problem is, folders and files in the ‘Computer’ tab can be linked to the ‘My Drive’ tab through simply right clicking. That’s just like adding a new disk volume ‘E’ with the prior ones ‘C’ and ‘D’. Then I checked the web interface, found that a new tab ‘Computers’ was added, parallel to the original ‘My Drive’ and the ‘Shared with me’ tab. Folders and files are uploaded to the cloud after selection. The installation and account linking processes are nothing unusual. The new features are indeed attractive, but the side effects are just too toxic to ignore. However, after I put my theory into practice, I found that my imagination turns out to be an unrealistic dream. That should greatly improve the data security and access mobility of my files. In my tentative plan, I will backup and sync several frequently-used folders in my Mac’s home directory. I was quite excited about it, because the old client was very inconvenient, which could only sync a stand-alone ‘Google Drive’ folder. In June 2017, Google replaced the desktop Google Drive client with a new app called ‘Backup and Sync’.
